Del Mar Picks – Friday, November 11th
Today we take a look at Del Mar’s Friday card for November 11th. The weather has turned wet, bringing conditions that are a far cry from the usual blue skies at Del Mar. Be sure to monitor scratches and any surface changes throughout the day — with several races likely to draw short fields, these adjustments may be the key to finding value.
Race 1 – #6 Halo Uncle
The morning-line favorite looks like the one to beat in the opener, but I think this 4-year-old gelding is vulnerable. I’ll be spreading in my early Pick 3s and Pick 5s to beat him. WIN AND SHOW Plays: 6 / 8-7-3-1-2
Race 2
7-2-3-4
Race 3
5-8-1-7-4
Race 4 – #1 Babe Ruthless (15-1 ML)
Making his debut for Dan Blacker, this 3-year-old gelding by Candy Ride should appreciate the wet conditions and could show early speed. His dam, Rutherienne, was a monster on the track, winning 11 of 24 races including a Grade 1 and multiple Grade 2 and 3 victories. Taking a swing at a price. The one to beat: #5 LatitudePlays: 1-5-2-8
Race 5 – #7 Giggle Giggle (4-1 ML)
Looks like a solid play. Faced allowance company last out and won here at Del Mar two starts back at this distance. Trainer Peter Eurton hits at 20% off the claim. WIN / SHOW Plays: 7-6-5
Race 6
8-5-1-7
Race 7
2-4-3-11-10
Race 8
8-3-4-7-5-2
